About Us

ECS provide consultancy, design and project management services to the refrigeration industry. Whether your need is in the retail, commercial or industrial sectors we have extensive experience to provide intelligent and clear solutions to meet customer requirements.

In an industry that is always striving to move forward ECS are open to new thinking and have the technical knowhow to give advice on and provide system design whatever your needs. As an end user, contractor or manufacturer, energy usage and carbon emissions are constantly being scrutinised; we offer design solutions that meet these needs.

 

 

Mid-career he was employed by Sainsburys starting as technical design engineer in 1991 progressing to head of refrigeration. Key responsibilities were the ownership of specifications for supermarkets and distribution depots whilst managing third party sub-contractors and suppliers ensuring they met specification. He was responsible for the phase out of CFCs designing the pack and testing display cases for R134a and R404a and the development of the first CO2 installation in a supermarket in UK for which Sainsburys received a ‘cooling industry award’.

 

Recent years he has worked for commercial contracting companies heading up design departments in both Denman and Ryan Jayberg. Whilst at Ryan Jayberg he was key part of the team that developed the Trans-critical CO2 solution for Sainsburys; detailing a specification for installations as well as providing a key interface between customer, company and equipment supplier delivering packaged refrigeration equipment for the projects.

 

Environmental Cooling Solutions Ltd was founded by Nick to provide technical solutions and knowhow to the refrigeration industry to share the knowledge and develop solutions for the future to improve reliability, energy efficiency and ultimately providing the best environmental solutions for whatever the cooling requirement.

Nick Rivers is a forward thinking technical design engineer with over 30 years’ experience in the refrigeration and air conditioning industry.

 

He trained with J&E Hall passing HND in Refrigeration at Grimsby College. His early career was spent in Industrial refrigeration working with O’Gorman International and Grenco;  responsible for design, procurement, project management and commissioning of some large Ammonia installations including a food processing facility with over 4MW of freezing capacity.
